Infrastructure Engineers has an immediate opening for a Building and Safety Manager to work in our client cities. We are a leading engineering consulting company based in Brea, CA; our clients include municipalities throughout Southern California. We offer a variety of services, such as Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building and Safety Inspections, Plan Checking, Traffic and Transportation Engineering, and Architectural Services.
Essential Job Duties
Provides supervision to professional and technical level staff performing plan check and building inspection services.
Administers uniform building codes and assists in the formulation, development and implementation of policies, programs and priorities for a client city.
Reviews building codes and policies for recommended revisions and changes; reviews new technological areas for recommended implementation.
Establishes and maintains positive contact with City departments, contractors, builders, developers and other agency representatives, and utilizes tact and diplomacy in public contact.
Manages and participates in the selection, training, and evaluation of the work of professional and technical division staff; provides guidance in matters relating to division policies and practices.
Responsible for the formulation of new plan checking procedures/policies and supervises the implementation of same.
May attend City Council meetings to represent Infrastructure Engineers; update status of client projects and address client issues.
Schedules and prioritizes work assignments; tracks inspection and project activities; reports upon overall trends and developments as part of periodic reports.
Supervises and assists in performing more difficult or complex plan checks and field inspections that require more extensive analyses of Federal and State laws and Municipal Codes.
Confers with architects, engineers, builders, developers, business representatives, and the general public regarding the interpretation of code requirements and construction regulations.
Collaborates and coordinates work projects with other divisions, as applicable.
Attends professional and community meetings and conferences, and advises management on building issues, developments, and emerging requirements.
Conducts independent research, evaluates data, and compiles and presents reports and recommendations.
Independently composes and issues correspondence and reports.
