ENGINEERING ASSOCIATE
SUMMARY
Engineering Associates assist the Project Manager and Senior Engineer in the management of multiple site development projects within assigned area of responsibility including design, preparation of calculations, reports, plans and cost estimates and project investigation.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Receives direction from the Project Manager or Senior Civil Engineer.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Essential duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Prepare professional and technical engineering work relative to assigned area of responsibility such as design and investigation, studies and reports.
Design and prepare plans, engineering designs, and specifications for various civil engineering projects.
Establish schedules and methods for providing engineering design services; identify resource needs; review needs with appropriate management staff; allocate resources accordingly.
Perform technical and complex tasks of the work unit including preparation, review, and revision of various engineering designs after consultation with Project Manager/Senior Engineer.
Inspect engineering plans and calculations for accuracy and compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
Prepare specifications for capital improvement projects; review projects with local utility companies to reduce possible construction conflicts.
Collect and analyze data to evaluate requests and prepare recommendations.
Prepare mid-level complex drawings under supervision.
Prepare analytical and statistical reports on operations and activities.
Prepare and maintain project files.
Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge:
Principles and practices of civil engineering as applied to design and studies.
Applicable laws and regulatory codes related to development, design and construction.
Methods and techniques used in the design and construction of a variety of civil/engineering projects.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil3D and MS Office.
Requirements:
3-5 years of increasingly responsible civil engineering experience.
B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university. Possession of or ability to obtain, a valid applicable California driver's license.
Possession of EIT (engineer in Training) certificate.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
